Re-reading, it was a bit harsh, wasn't it? Perhaps I meant "faded". It was a late Sunday afternoon, several of the shops were shut - some looked pretty permanently shut - and a tribute band was bashing tunes out at the open air bar. But it was architecturally intact, which you can't say about the one down the road.
